Mayor Morris

“My husband and your cat—Morris—have breakfast together on our patio every morning,” my neighbor explained, standing up. “One morning just after you moved in, my husband went out with his coffee and the newspaper and found Morris sitting in one of the chairs. They had a lovely chat. Now Morris waits for him on the patio every morning. My husband reads the paper to him and they discuss world events, don’t you Morris?”

Morris had apparently made more friends in the neighborhood than I had in the few months we’d been living there.
